40 years ago … DAVID BOWIE – “Absolute Beginners”
On March 03, 1986, David Bowie released the single “Absolute Beginners. Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ The song was recorded in August 1985 at Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley’s Westside Studios in Shepherd’s Bush, London.
★ “Absolute Beginners” is the title song of the film of the same name.
★ Bowie was friends with the director Julien Temple, and so he gladly agreed to write music for the film if he was allowed to take on the role of the Vendice partner.
★ Julien Temple shot the music video, which reflected the style of the film from the 1950s. The video was a tribute to an old British advertisement for beach cigarettes, whose advertising slogan is also quoted in the film. The video also uses footage from the movie.
★ The song reached number 2 in the UK charts and made it into the top 10 of the singles charts in ten other countries.
