50 years ago: DAVID BOWIE “Station to Station”

On January 23, 1976, David Bowie released his tenth studio album “Station to Station”. Did you already know these 10 facts?
★ With “Station to Station”, David Bowie developed the fictional character “The Thin White Duke”.
★ The album was mainly recorded at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles.
★ The cover image shows a still from the British sci-fi film “The Man Who Fell from the Sky”, in which David Bowie appears.
★ During the recording of “Station by Station”, Bowie was heavily addicted to drugs. He later explained that he could remember almost nothing from this phase.
★ According to Bowie’s biographer David Buckley, his diet consisted mainly of red and green peppers, milk and cocaine. David later admitted that he weighed only 80 pounds and was “completely out of it most of the time”.
★ Lyrically, “Station to Station” reflects David’s preoccupation with Aleister Crowley and Friedrich Nietzsche, among others.
★ The album reached the top 5 of both the British and US charts.
★ “Station to Station” was followed by the “Isolar” tour in 1976.
★ After the end of this tour, David Bowie moved to Europe to distance himself from the Los Angeles drug scene.
