NIGHT TAPES
“portals//polarities“
Album (Nettwerk Music Group)
The music of Night Tapes could be described as experimental dream pop. The album title “portals//polarities” is perfectly chosen: Their music is a kind of portal that reflects the polarity within ourselves. Iiris Vesik’s high-pitched voice breathes emotion into the electronic sounds, while the lyrics are not to be taken literally. They open up a space for your own thoughts, it’s the sounds that count. Purely electronic, “portals/polarities” nevertheless feels human, which may be due to the trio’s experimental approach, as numerous field recordings were incorporated directly into the sound.
