CEREMONY SHADOWS: Futuristic dark wave from Portland
SPONSORED POST

With the new single “Future Past Collapse”, the Portland-based formation is doing a thought experiment: “We wondered if at some point (or maybe even now) we will feel nostalgia for human technology, especially with the rise of AI technology displacing much of what has made us human up to this point in our history as a species. Humanity is about to be augmented, if not in some ways replaced, by AI technology. We wrote ‘Future Past Collapse’ to explore this sense of nostalgia.”
From his thesis on neural networks to his role as Chief Technology Officer at an AI company, Timo – who is responsible for the music – has a keen interest in computational intelligence and closely follows the latest developments in the field of AI. “He is excited that this technology will help reduce the monotony during the music production process and open up new avenues of creative expression. More importantly, all three of us are interested in the intersection, or rather collision, between AI and what makes us human. As a species, we have to make some fundamental choices about what kind of world we want to create for ourselves, and we believe that art can remind us of our humanity. That’s why we wanted to write a song that explores this theme.”
