BLOOD RED SHOES: Volume Without Limits?

With their new album “Stay Lonely,” set for release on September 18, 2026, Blood Red Shoes will embark on a European tour in October 2026. Live, the duo stays true to their principle: minimalist setup, maximum impact. Laura-Mary Carter on guitar and vocals and Steven Ansell on drums and vocals create an impressive wall of sound—somewhere between garage rock, post-punk, and melodic intensity. Or, as the band itself promises: “The shows will be as loud as the laws of your country allow!”

Steven Ansell recalls the music video for “Useless Sentiment.” The idea for the handwritten lyrics didn’t come up until two days before the shoot: “Basically like a copy of the Bob Dylan video, only completely DIY. The atmosphere of this album is very different from that of our last one. The last album was like a big, dark apocalyptic movie, whereas this song is more like a home video you shoot with a friend in the basement. That’s why, with everything we did around the album—like the video for ‘Useless Sentiment’—we didn’t even try to refine anything, over-produce it, or make it perfect. We just grabbed a friend with a camera, went to a park, wrote out the entire lyrics together, and then goofed around for a few hours in the crazy heat. What you see is just two friends being themselves.”
