A REAL DUMB BIRD interview (1/2)
The band name A Real Dumb Bird, meaning “a rarely stupid bird”, is simply meant as a joke. Sven Meier runs his own label called SMAP! Music. We talk to Sven in two parts about the EP “Shut Your Mouth”.
Heart’s desire
With the project A Real Dumb Bird and the EP “Shut Your Mouth”, guitarist Sven Meier is fulfilling a dream. A band without musical boundaries, even if the basis is clearly groovy thrash metal. “I’m passionate about making music, that’s why I founded A Real Dumb Bird,” says mastermind Sven. “Here I can realize everything that’s on my mind. But I also realized that I couldn’t do everything on my own. I need friends to help me with my dream. Drummer Eric Harkonnen from Vladimir Harkonnen and Hauke Schulz from Ferryman’s Coin were immediately on board. Vocally, I wanted something powerful and asked Helge Hentro from Extinct. Ralf Hauber from Rotpit for the background vocals and Jan Steffen for the solos and leads made it really fat.”
