Bianca Stücker’s angelic, characterful voice harmonizes wonderfully with that of Mark Benecke, as they have already proven several times. In “Abysmal Affairs”, they venture into cover songs by Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Johnny Cash. Their interpretations of “Sabrina” and “Henry Lee”, among others, have a charm all of their own and go in the soulful folk direction, which they interweave with at least as much darkness as the originals. The Solar Fake remix of “Sabrina” draws us onto the dance floor for good, while the mystical Qntal remix of “Henry Lee” simply enchants.
