DAMPF: Thrive in the shade?

The Swedish metal band DAMPF will release their second album “No Angels Alive” on August 23, 2024. In ten tracks they create their own style of hard rock, thrash, a pinch of electro and lots of melodic power metal. The single “Masquerade” provides a first impression. It is about “the dark mind and soul of a disgruntled Swedish military officer whose anger at the Swedish King Gustav III led him to attempt regicide at a masked ball”, describes mastermind Martin Erikson. Although this happened 300 years ago, he sees parallels to the present day: “Today’s ‘masquerade’ is about keeping people in the dark, giving them bread and water and making them happy with what they see on the surface, which of course only allows darkness to thrive out of sight and in the shadows.”
