DARKPLACE: Mystical warning?

Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

With the new single “Näcken”, Darkplace take you on an acoustic journey into Nordic folklore. Musically, Darkplace do not shy away from combining dark wave with elements of black metal, post-punk or experimental soundscapes. The track is a gloomy warning: “Don’t approach the water when dusk falls, because that’s where the näcken plays his sad song. When you hear the call of the violin, turn away and flee, for its melody drowns more than just the sound,” they explain. Darkplace see themselves as an art project, the identity behind the artists remains mysterious. Thus, “Näcken” – like the first album – is the result of a detailed process that combines photography, sculpture, oil painting and digital frame-by-frame animation. Each scene is carefully constructed to reflect the multi-layered emotional and mythical dimensions of the music. “Näcken” is also a precursor to his second album “About Nordic Folklore”, which thematically deals with the mythical and evil spirits of the old North.
