On March 14, 1983, the single “Let’s Dance” was released as the lead single from David Bowie‘s album of the same name. Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ “Let’s Dance” was recorded in December 1982 at New York’s Power Station Studios.
★ And in just one or two takes. It was the first song written for the album of the same name. It laid the foundation for the sound of the album.
★ “Let’s Dance” was co-produced by Nile Rodgers (Chic). It also featured musicians David Bowie had never worked with before, such as the (then still unknown) guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan.
★ The music video shot in Australia commented on the treatment of the Australian Aborigines.
★ In the video, the red shoes symbolize the way of life of the Western world. The girl wears them for a while, but then rejects them and returns to her own culture.
