★ After David Bowie’s first leg of his “Diamond Dogs” tour, the recordings for “Young Americans” began at Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia.
★ The producer is Tony Visconti, who produced a total of 14 studio albums with David Bowie.
★ While working in Philadelphia, Bowie immersed himself in soul music and created a new persona called “The Gouster”, which is the slang term for a hip street kid. This was also initially the working title.
★ Due to his cocaine addiction, David often stayed in the studio day and night to make his recordings while the band slept.
★ “Young Americans” was awarded gold in Canada, the UK and the USA.
