The German answer to THE BANGLES’ 1986 hit “Walk Like an Egyptian” was the cover version by Die Ärzte. “Gehn wie ein Ägypter” was released on May 14, 1987 and their version naturally features “orgies with Cleopatra” and a French kiss with the Sphinx. In the trashy video, Die Ärzte celebrate a party including the appearance of a mummy. The song remained in the German charts for five weeks, peaking at 44.
