Breaking the cycle. The term “soul striptease” may still be waiting for its big comeback, but it’s hard to describe the EP released in April by the Estonian industrial metal band Freakangel in any other way. “Control EP,” however, tells a story of the exact opposite. Singer Ocean Black processes experiences from his personal life during a period when much changed and relationships were irretrievably destroyed. Musically, this emotional revelation is accompanied by crashing synthesizers and brutal guitar riffs. All of this creates a desolate atmosphere that makes the pain being sung about palpable.
