Black metal straight out of a picture book – even if the thought of a picture book in this context is wonderfully disgusting – is what Frosted Undergrowth deliver on their album “Unchained”. The quartet has written the word “uncompromising” on its forehead, and so it unleashes mercilessly hard, noisy soundscapes that make a headbanger’s heart beat faster. Evil screams and sinister themes are the order of the day with songs like “Glacier on Permafrost” or “Raven”, where they live up to their band name, which translates roughly as “frost-covered undergrowth”. Frosted Undergrowth stand for merciless black metal.
