Happy Birthday & In Memoriam: ANDY FLETCHER

On July 8, Andy Fletcher (Depeche Mode) would have celebrated his 65th birthday, but he was never to live past the age of 60. Today, we respectfully remember the artist who, above all, enjoyed the shadows of the spotlight—and whose loss, nonetheless, is incredibly painful.

Did you already know these 5 facts?

• Before joining Depeche Mode, Andrew Fletcher was a member of the following bands: No Romance in China and Composition of Sound.

• The latter eventually became Depeche Mode in 1980.

• Outside of the band, he ran the record label Toast Hawaii from 2002 to 2006 and, in the 1990s, his restaurant “Gascologne” in West London.

• Fletch had been married to Gráinne Mullan since 1991 and had two children: Megan (born 1991) and Joseph (born 1994).

• In May 2022, Fletch died unexpectedly from an aortic dissection.
