On September 3, 2001—25 years ago— In Extremo released “Sünder ohne Zügel.” Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ The album includes the song “Vollmond,” which has long since become a timeless classic.
★ Back then, the accompanying video surprised us, too. Yellow Pfeiffer said at the time: “Most people probably expected us to make some kind of Robin Hood video. But that’s exactly what we didn’t want to do.”
★ The lyrics were written by CKay, who was likely inspired by a 15th-century poem attributed to François Villon.
★ This shift was also evident musically; “Sünder ohne Zügel” stood out above all for its more modern sound.
★ Der Lange, who had just joined the band at the time, certainly played a part in that on guitar.
