In thoughts of: THE CURE: Perry Bamonte

On December 26, 2026, longtime THE CURE guitarist Perry Archangelo Bamonte passed away after a brief illness at the age of 65. He was initially a member of the road crew from 1984-89 after his brother Daryl was appointed tour manager. He went on to become guitar technician and personal assistant to Robert Smith before becoming a full-time member of THE CURE in 1990.
He played guitar, 6-string bass and keyboard on the albums “The Wish”, “Wild Mood Swings”, “Bloodflowers”, “Acoustic Hits” and “The Cure”. He also played over 400 concerts with THE CURE before leaving the band in 2005. After his return in 2022, he played another 90 concerts, culminating in the “Show of a Lost World” concert on November 01, 2024 in London.
The band commemorates him on the official THE CURE website, describing him as “quiet, intense, intuitive, consistent and immensely creative.” – May he rest in peace.
