Auf den Tag genau vor 46 Jahren erschien am 7. Dezember 1979 das dritte Album „Quiet Life“ von Japan. Kanntest Du diese 5 Fakten bereits?
★ Japan really wanted to record their third album with Roxy Music producer John Punter. When they were told he wasn’t available, they started recording with their manager Simon Napier-Bell. However, they were told that he would be available later in the year, so they waited.
★ “Quiet Life” was recorded in September 1979 at London’s Air Studios. The mastering took place at Trident Studios on November 5th.
★ Lyrically, the title track refers to the problems Japan were going through at the time after losing their US record deal and commercial success in the UK was a long time coming.
★ In an interview three years later, singer David Sylvian said that “Quiet Life” was the only Japan album that the band had worked on together. In the albums that followed, he clearly dominated the recording sessions.
★ In Japan, “Quiet Life” was the first foreign rock album to reach the national charts. In Canada, it rose to number 8.
