Death’s carriage on a journey of the century

“The Phantom Carriage”
Album (Artoffact)

After more than a hundred years, Victor Sjöström’s black-and-white film “The Carter of Death” (1921) is given a new sound dimension full of intense atmosphere, skillfully created by Kælan Mikla & Barði Johannsson. The original title is also represented by the track “Körkarlen”. When “Reminiscence” strikes a sweet note, this contrast only lasts for a short time; the mood inevitably turns to darker realms. Not only the dynamics and use of sound in “Time is Up” are able to conjure up an uncanny effect with fascinating power. Wonderfully dark and haunting, “The Phantom Carriage” really gets to the heart!
