LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE on Gothcore
Lacrimas Profundere ’s new single is titled “Faceless” and is another preview of their 14th studio album, which is set to be released on September 25, 2026, and will be titled “Lay Me Down O Silent Fear.” Mastermind Oliver Nikolas Schmid explains how it came to be: “For me, it’s the song that perfectly fits our invention of the GOTHCORE music style. On the other hand, it was also the most difficult song on the album. I had this really menacing riff with a double-bass drum storm underneath it, and I was really impressed with myself—but then I got stuck when it came to the chorus. At some point, I got on Julian’s nerves so much that he sent me three random vocal ideas that had absolutely nothing to do with the song at all. One of them grabbed me immediately, and I changed everything just so I could use those vocals. Almost by accident, it’s now turned into a mix of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Bring Me The Horizon, and I can really hear “Galileo, Galileo, Figaro” when the second chorus repeats! (laughs) If Julian and I ever go our separate ways, we’ll both surely continue to write good music, but that special something that happens when we focus on working together will be lost forever.”
The music video was shot at a sand quarry: “After seeing Arch Enemy, Sepultura, and so many other great videos set in sandy landscapes, I wanted to do that too—and now I’ve checked another item off my bucket list. But to be honest, it was a real struggle. We had to postpone the shoot several times—once because of a flat tire, then because of illness, and so on! Eventually, we ran out of time, and the owner of the sand quarry also wanted his gate key back—which I think we’d had sitting at home for three months. So we were forced to choose one of the hottest days of the year for the shoot. I’ll tell you, that’s at least how I imagine hell to be. I hope all the readers like the clip now, too, because we really earned it.
