NIGHT TAPES: Dream Pop from London

Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

The name Night Tapes is to be taken literally: In the beginning, the trio simply held a dictaphone out of the window to record the passing sounds. The majority of the album “portals//polarities” was created during their tours in hotels or Airbnbs. Singer Iiris Vesik comes from Estonia but, like her band colleagues, lives in London. London is also the birthplace of Night Tapes: “After graduating, we all moved into a shared flat in south London. At that time, we were all producing music independently of each other. Each of our rooms practically served as a small studio. Every night you’d walk past a bedroom and hear different tracks and beats being made. It was almost inevitable that we’d get drawn into each other’s work,” recalls Iiris in our September/October issue.
