ROXY MUSIC: How did the band name come about?
Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

Frontman Brian Ferry and saxophonist/oboist Andy Mackay compiled a list of old movie theaters to find the band’s name. Brian told Mojo magazine in December 1995: “Odeon, Rialto, Plaza, Gaumont. The Regal and the Ritz were my regulars. The Roxy had a certain echo and a certain glamor, faded glamor maybe, and it didn’t really mean anything that I liked.” But as there was already an American band called Roxy, they changed the name to ROXY MUSIC, which they have carried since 1970.
