Today, July 1, 1996, marks exactly 30 years to the day since Underworld released “Born Slippy .NUXX.” Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ Originally relegated to the background as a B-side, the track became the duo’s biggest hit thanks to the film “Trainspotting”, which with its hard beats represents the pulsating heart of the film and also forced people to dance in numerous clubs in our scene.
★ “Born slippy” means “quick and alert” in British slang and refers to the mental state of someone who is currently using drugs or experiencing anxiety.
★ In the case of singer Karl Hyde, it was alcohol, but it also fits with taking various pills such as ecstasy. In both situations, thoughts are racing like crazy…
★ Underworld have been around since 1988, regularly releasing music, art and lyrics.
★ In the British charts, “Born Slippy .NUXX” reached number 2 in the singles charts.
