LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE on TYPE O NEGATIVE, BON JOVI, and the Gothic Rock Song of the Year
Lacrimas Profundere ’s new single is titled “Nevermore” and is another preview of their 14th studio album, which is set to be released on September 25, 2026, and will be titled “Lay Me Down O Silent Fear.” Mastermind Oliver Nikolas Schmid explains: “This was the song I originally didn’t want to include on the album anymore; it was one of the last ones we wrote, and when Julian came up with the idea for the vocal line, to be honest, it was actually a bit too pop-sounding for my taste. But as a self-confessed Bon Jovi fan, I’m not really in a position to make that kind of criticism, am I? (laughs) New elements kept getting added, and now the track really sounds like Type O Negative —and yes, I’ll stand by it—covering Bon Jovi. Honestly, for me, it’s already the gothic rock song of the year. Julian already liked the song in the first demo version, back when I hadn’t even recognized its potential yet, and I let him convince me. Now I’m damn glad about it—we’ve already played the song live a few times, and even before its release, it’s become the highlight of our entire set. We’ve made 14 albums, and it’s songs like this one that I know will always have a permanent place in our live set. So I’m really proud of what this song has turned into.”
