EVANESCENCE: The beginning of a language of its own

Evanescence were formed in Arkansas in 1995, far removed from any fashionable scene. The non-conformist was their foundation. Early on, piano, metal, electronics and classical arrangements were combined to form a signature that deliberately avoided any pigeonholing. Evanescence did not sound like the zeitgeist, but rather like an inner compulsion. They produced their first recordings in the singer’s bedroom – songs that were still unpolished but full of ideas and emotions. The mixture of dark lyrics, epic sound and classical piano made the band stand out from the crowd right from the start. In our March/April issue, we delve deeper into the world of Evanescence.
