29 years ago, Depeche Mode released the single “Barrel of a Gun” on February 03, 1997. Did you already know these facts?
★ “Barrel of a Gun” was the first single after three years of supposed silence.
★ According to Martin Gore, the song is about realizing who you are and that you don’t have to fit into everyone’s mold. He assumes that everyone has a predetermined path from which they can only deviate to a small extent.

★ In the Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain and Sweden, “Barrel of a Gun” reached number 1 in the charts. In Germany it reached number 3 and in the UK number 4. In the USA, the single made it to number 47 on the Billboard Top 100.
