Existential Dark Jazz explorations
THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET
“The Horror Cosmic”
Album (Denovali)

The fourth album of Jason Köhnen’s solo project fourth unfolds with a multidisciplinary aspect: it conjures up the soundtrack to an illustrated short story. Nine tracks go beyond the Jazz instrumentarium, in arrangements that dare to go even further. The atmosphere in “What Lurks Beneath?” seems unconventionally dense. Discomfort and fascination merge into one. “Event Horizon” plays out its dynamics skillfully when the first sounds are joined by more and more indulgent sounds and then subside again after the culmination point. Pleasantly gripping, these sound spaces cast a deep cosmic spell.
