Today Simon Gallop(The Cure) celebrates his 65th birthday. We wish him all the best!
Did you know?
– Simon Gallup has been The Cure’s bassist since 1979. (With a small interruption from 1982 to 1985), making him the second longest active member of the band after Robert Smith.
– Before that, Simon worked in a plastics factory after finishing school.
– In 1992, Gallup fell ill with pleurisy. His son Eden stood in for him during The Cure tour.
– Simon penned the songs “Lovesong” and “Homesick”, among others.
– His favorite bass is the Gibson Thunderbird. Since 2011, Gallup has been using a signature model from Schecter.
