On September 23, 1991—35 years ago— Primal Scream released their third studio album, “Screamadelica.” Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ With “Screamadelica,” Primal Scream achieved commercial success for the first time: In the United Kingdom, it reached No. 8 on the charts and has since sold over three million copies worldwide.
★ Musically, it’s mostly house music—in other words, LSD and MDMA are the order of the day.
★ In 1992, it won the first “Mercury Music Prize.”
★ The lead single “Loaded” reached No. 16 on the UK charts and No. 19 on the U.S. charts. In the UK, that means it went silver for selling more than 200,000 copies.
★ This timeless song can also be heard in the science fiction film “The World’s End” (2013).
