We ponder contemporary swear words with Alex Wesselsky – the song “FAKK” is an excellent source of inspiration. “Liebe macht Monster”, however, opens up above all social and socio-critical perspectives, because Eisbrecher certainly don’t let anyone shut them up. So we denounce the new culture of discussion and end up with ultimate justice.

Orkus: A song with contrasts is “FAKK”. He has something rapper-like, but musically you do not disappoint and go to full hardness, as you can really only wish. How did these apparent contrasts come about? Or are they not at all?

Alexander Wesselsky: That’s something we’ve always been itching to do. That Eisbrecher has no problems with playing with NDW and Rap or whatever, is known not only since “This Is Deutsch” or “Fanatica”. There we were always curious and open. “FAKK” is a thoroughbred crossover. We have American cultural imperalism to thank for that, that all over the world, if you stub your toe, you don’t hear it. “Ruling times again, damn it!” but that you say, “Fuck!” It’s a nice, crisp, monosyllabic curse that has been marketed and sold worldwide. This is probably the most said word, which we have now set a musical monument. “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me!”, I say now. Rage Against the Machine. That was the heyday of Crossover. The word “fuck” belongs in a Metal-meets-Hiphop context. I would be very happy to experience the number live.

O: What did they actually say before “fuck”?

AW: “Shit” is what they said. But “fuck” is more aggressive. Fuck is more like middle finger right in the face. Shit affects me first and foremost, I’m in it with both feet. Fuck has a counterpart. Shit remains for the hedonists and egomaniacs, but fuck is the weapon for all those who like to deal with others. (laughs) For more sociable contemporaries…

In the next part, we are “Against” with Alex.
