The label Svart Records seems to have dug up the next brilliant band after Beastmilk or Messa. Shaam Larein from Sweden definitely have what it takes to take off. Their sound oscillates between Doom, Post Punk and a pinch of Goth Rock, is miles away from all conceivable clichés and yet remains catchy enough. Singer and namesake Shaam Larein has Syrian roots, which may explain some of the unfamiliar sounding melodies. But songs like “I Have No Face” or “Murderer”, which was released with a video clip, are above all boundlessly melancholic and thus again very Scandinavian.
