The City Gates —named after the seven city gates through which one could enter Londinium during the Roman Empire—have already shared the stage with acts such as The Chameleons, Actors, Selofan, Traitrs, and Solar Fake. The City Gates’ third album was released in May and is named after the three-headed creature from Greek mythology: “Chimera.” Musically, it oscillates between melancholic post-punk and rousing cold wave. Anyone who has somehow managed to miss The City Gates so far and loves bands like Joy Division should definitely give “Chimera” a listen.
