“2+2 = 5”, the debut single from The Mechanical Sheep, pulsates with time. You can feel with every note that Mathew Bonehead (Cires) is no stranger to this. EBM, industrial and dark electro and a hint of NDH are combined to create a powerful conglomeration of sounds. As powerful as the forward-pushing and yet always harmonious sounds are, the lyrics should also be listened to carefully. George Orwell’s “1984” served as the thematic template. What was once written as a dystopian warning once again turns out to be frighteningly topical and musically irresistible.
