With “R.D.V. au cimetière”, Une Vraie Gothique have succeeded in creating a debut that combines dark electro and EBM with charm, poetry and surprising self-reflection. The French duo Ulrika and Ferdinand Legendre move between honest love of the scene, morbid romanticism and subtle irony. Cold synthesizers, driving rhythms and catchy melodies meet lyrics full of longing, darkness and the search for identity. Tracks such as “Un Monde Noir”, “Metz Noire” and the title track create an atmosphere somewhere between cemetery romance and dance floor. An album that recognizes goth clichés, plays with them and breathes new life into them.
