VEIHLAR: Epic Symphonic Gothic from Leipzig
SPONSOREDPOST

Veihlar was founded in the summer of 2023. The trio consists of Henry Beierle (bass), Melissa Friedemann (vocals) and Nick-Justin Pohl (keyboard). What does Veihlar sound like? They themselves describe their music as “Symphonic Gothic”, and that’s a pretty good description. Epic classical melodies meet dark gothic sounds, over which Melissa’s clear voice floats. Which brings us to the name: Veihlar comes from the English “veil”, so it has something to do with “veil” or “to veil, conceal”, which fits well with the dark, mystical music. The letters “A” and “R” are of an aesthetic nature, Melissa explains that they make everything sound “beautifully blurred”. The “H”, on the other hand, comes from the “Hagalaz” rune from the 24th Futhark, which means “change, new beginning”. – Very fitting for Veihlar, who already know each other from another musical project.
Melissa explains how her music came about: “The boys laid the instrumental foundations for great soundscapes, which I was quickly able to empathize with and invent my very own lyrics and stories, and in some cases also incorporate my own experiences.” Within a year, ten brand new pieces were created, which were condensed into the album “Königin der Finsternis” in late fall. After the album release – we will of course keep you up to date – Veihlar will be ready for more live performances. It would be a dream for the trio to play at the big scene festivals such as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Amphi or M’era Luna, for example.
We’re sure we’ll be hearing more from Veihlar in the future. But why don’t you take a listen to the enchanted “Wolfslied” for yourself?
