WITHIN TEMPTATION: Breaking the ice?

Exactly 24 years ago to the day on May 28, 2001, the final preparations were underway to release the song “Ice Queen” as a single. A second, completely new video for the track was shot. The effort must have been worth it, because “Ice Queen” was the first single from the Dutch band to enter the singles charts. And in several countries at once: Austria (#53), Germany (#21), Belgium (Flanders, #3) and in their home country it even went to #2! The “Ice Queen” broke the ice, so to speak, and singer Sharon den Adel and her band colleagues enjoyed regular chart success from then on.
