Shagrath celebrates his 48th birthday today. We wish the singer of Dimmu Borgir<\/strong> all the best.<\/p>\n\n

Did you know?<\/strong>– Dimmu Borgir<\/strong> were founded 30 years ago.– Shagrath and guitarist Silenoz are the only founding members who are still part of the band today.– The name is derived from Dimmuborgir, a volcanic formation in Iceland, whose name means “dark cities” or “dark castles\/fortresses” in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse.– Born as Stian Tomt Thoresen, Shagrath chose his stage name from “The Lord of the Rings” universe. There, the orc Shagrat is a Uruk-hai leader.– Shagrath has also played in other bands such as Chrome Division <\/strong>(2004-2015), Starkness<\/strong> (1996), Ragnarok<\/strong> (1997), Ov Hell<\/strong> (2010) and Fimbulwinter<\/strong> (1994). <\/p>\n\n
