Night has always stood for the unknown. The darkness is full of mysteries and dangers. Fear of the night is a natural, survival instinct. – At the same time, there is an irresistible temptation to unlock its secrets and bring light into the darkness. In a way, \u201cNescit Nox\u201d represents such a beacon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It calls on us to face the fear of the unknown, of darkness: “By descending into the dark labyrinth under the protection of candlelight and singing: \u2018There are no shadows in the darkness\u2019,” explains Olivier Tarabo and continues: “Then there is no more fear in fear. One ventures into the realm of the dead and is drawn into a military march that turns out to be a war against oneself, which one would so much like to win.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This war against oneself literally makes you hear the whizzing of the cannonballs, your own self becomes a battlefield. The scenario is transferred into a labyrinth in the opulent video clip for \u201cNescit Nox\u201d. Like the clip for the single \u201c1335\u201d, which was released just a few weeks ago and received over 5,000 clicks on YouTube in a very short space of time, the video was shot in the band’s own crypt. In the middle of the labyrinth, the large grand piano surrounded by a hundred candles resounds with its sombre chords. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further back, the singer drums his way through the dark corridors, searching for this inner conflict. Elsewhere, a bagpipe player adds her marching melody, and further back the double bass can be heard. \u201cEveryone is on their own, lost in a corridor. Confident, without panic and full of determination,\u201d Olivier continues. To heighten the atmosphere, the clip for \u201cNescit Nox\u201d is lit only by candlelight. The lights tremble, the voices echo, the echoes get lost in the labyrinth. \u201cEverything here is fearful and puts us in a forced march through the darkness. We lose ourselves with pleasure in a macabre melody that ends in a field of corpses.\u201d – Are you ready to take the plunge and look behind the shadows? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
