42 years ago, on August 22, 1983 to be exact, Depeche Mode<\/strong> released “Construction Time Again”. Did you already know these 5 facts?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2605 Depeche Mode<\/strong> set a milestone with the use of samplers. “Construction Time Again” was the first album on which different sounds (samples) – these could be musical instruments or noises – were recorded and used to create a piece of music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2605 The third album was recorded in London at John Foxx’s The Garden studios. The producer was – and remained so until 1988 – Daniel Miller. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2605 “Construction Time Again” was mixed at Hansa Studios in Berlin. Here, Depeche Mode <\/strong>benefited from the 56-track mixing console – the one in London only had 24 tracks. At the time, Hansa Studio was the only studio in Europe that could record so many tracks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2605 Since then, the city of Berlin has played an important role for Depeche Mode<\/strong>. The studio was also located just a stone’s throw from the Berlin Wall, which created a special atmosphere. The view was directly onto the patrolling border guards … <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2605 Like the two previous albums, the album cover was designed by Brian Griffin. It shows a blacksmith in work clothes wielding a hammer. He is standing on a rock, with a snow-covered mountain in the background. The photograph was taken in Switzerland. The model is a former US Marine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
