Johanna Krins released her album “Klarheit” in winter. In our winter issue, we spoke to her in detail about her desire for musical change, her collaboration with Asp and her restless nature. In her music, she addresses uncomfortable topics and challenges us to take a closer look. And so she deals with her visual impairment quite openly, allowing us to talk informally about her self-determined life with a guide dog and what it’s like when the darkness increases. No matter in what respect.

Short and sweet: Johanna Krins on “Clarity”:

1. “Clarity ” – “It was the first song I wrote when I realized that I wanted to do metal from now on.”

2. “My soul is called storm ” – “The lyrics were written by my musical companion Asp and deal with my restlessness and restlessness. My progressive visual impairment means that I want to experience and see as much as possible while I still can.”

3. “Das zweite Gesicht ” – “I really wanted to do this cover because it’s remarkable how well the lyrics fit into metal. It’s about evil sides of yourself and how they are often suppressed.”

4. “Dichtertod ” – “I wrote this track during the pandemic and used it to process how exposed I felt as an artist.”

5th “Ice Diamonds ” – “Iceland is an absolute place of longing for me and the bizarre landscape at Diamond Beach left a lasting impression.”

6 “Versiegen ” – “The lyrics of this song were also written by Aspund and are an indictment of the drifting apart of society and the isolation of the individual.”

7 “Alicia ” – “When I once got lost at Berlin Central Station, I met a young girl who had run away from home. This meeting gave me the impetus to write about homelessness and lost souls in the big city.”

8. “Ghosts ” – “an anti-bullying statement. It’s also about revenge, but it’s meant in the sense of karma.”
