We talk to CNVX<\/strong> about the new EP “Path I – Rising”, moths and visions of the future.<\/p>\n\n

Orkus: <\/strong>With “Path I – Rising” you have created a varied EP. How did the desire to release an EP after the album come about? Dirk: <\/strong>After our debut album “Unfolding” was released, we took a short break from songwriting to concentrate on the live shows. New song ideas came up along the way and so the question arose as to how we wanted to proceed with future releases. The road to creating a classic album is a very long one and we were looking for an alternative that suited our possibilities and resources. France:<\/strong> The idea for the EP came from the desire to create a cohesive concept from the beginning that reflects our journey with CNVX. With “Path I – Rising” we set the prelude. Setting off on a new adventure. O: <\/strong>And the chic red cover picture with the moth? What does it represent for you? France:<\/strong> The moth on our EP symbolizes the process of transformation. From the caterpillar to the cocoon to the fully-grown butterfly. Just as the butterfly develops, we also develop with our music. Dirk:<\/strong> France originally drew the moth by hand, in the classic way with pencil and paint! The aim was to give the whole thing a very personal touch despite the many technical possibilities. <\/p>\n\n

O: <\/strong>To what extent can you identify in some way with the metamorphosis of a butterfly?France:<\/strong> Moths and butterflies are among my favorite animals. Not only because they are simply beautiful, but also because the development they go through is fascinating. After all, we are constantly evolving as humans and that’s why we feel many parallels with these wonderful creatures. Josch:<\/strong> The world around us is in a constant state of change\/metamorphosis. Be it technologically, in nature, socially or even our own personal change. There is no standstill. In the same way, we have also evolved as a band, which you can hear in our new songs. O: <\/strong>France, your voice is awesome, and in the very first song “Equality” you growl like crazy. How do you train it? France:<\/strong> First and foremost, a good warm-up is important for the voice, as is hydration. Regular practice and the use of technique are also decisive factors in producing good growls and screams. O: <\/strong>The topic of equality is of course very important. Why was it important to you to express this in a song? France:<\/strong> Nowadays, you can clearly feel an upswing in terms of gender equality. This is also an important factor for us, because there is still a lot of catching up to do in many respects. Our song “Equality” also focuses on this. It addresses topics such as the fight against injustice, violence and oppression – especially against women. It is intended to give those affected a voice, draw attention to social grievances and show that silence is not a solution. At the same time, it conveys hope, cohesion and the desire for real equality. O: <\/strong>How did the powerful song “Face My Fears” come about?France:<\/strong> Everyone experiences their fears in one way or another. It’s not always easy to deal with them, and that’s essentially why we wanted to address this topic in a song. The song is about breaking out of fear, manipulation and social pressure. It stands for self-liberation, resistance to control and the courage to stand up for yourself and others. O: <\/strong>How do you personally feel about facing your fears? – And what fears would that be specifically? France:<\/strong> Indeed, it is often not easy to face your own fears, for me there are many insecurities that often determine my everyday life. For me in particular, I have a lot of fears and insecurities in social contexts. As an introvert, it’s not always easy, but sometimes you just have to dare to do something and, above all, reflect and reflect on yourself in order to overcome difficult situations. Good conversations with friends also help me enormously. <\/p>\n\n

Josch:<\/strong> I deal with myself a lot. But it always depends on which fears are bothering me. Everyone has developed their own coping strategy over the years. But talking about it with people you trust is certainly the better option than keeping it all inside. <\/p>\n\n
