On \u201cNorthwind Chronicles,\u201d the symphonic power metal band Hel\u2019s Throne explores their favorite theme: Norse mythology. Drummer Andreas \u201cZicke\u201d Ziegler answers our questions. <\/p>\n\n

Concept (or lack thereof)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The title \u201cNorthwind Chronicles\u201d suggests a concept album, but drummer Zicke disagrees. \u201cEach song tells its own story, but they\u2019re all set in Norse mythology or history. Take, for example, \u2018The Prophecy,\u2019 which tells of the Norns who foretell the downfall of the Norse gods. Or \u2018Ragnarok,\u2019 which deals with the twilight of the gods itself. In contrast, there\u2019s \u2018Way of the Warrior,\u2019 which explores the coming-of-age of a Viking warrior, with the goal of achieving glory and honor on the battlefield through rigorous training and hardship, ultimately to spend the afterlife in Valhalla. \u201cOver the Seas\u201d explores the discovery of America by the Norsemen.\u201d <\/p>\n\n
