Madame Minor has carved out her own niche between the streets of Zurich and the shadowy soundscapes of electropop, trip-hop, and singer-songwriter elements. In our two-part interview with the artist, we talk about her latest single, \u201cGhosting.\u201d Did you miss the first part? No problem\u2014you can read it here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Loss Instead of Heartbreak<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

In \u201cGhosting,\u201d Madame Minor doesn\u2019t just address the disappearance of a person. The focus is on the loss of control and the question of what happens when one\u2019s self-image becomes tied to something or someone. \u201c\u2018If all I am is only losing you\u2019 describes exactly that point where one\u2019s sense of self becomes strongly tied to another person,\u201d she says. At the same time, she wants to keep the interpretation open. \u201cWhat\u2019s lost doesn\u2019t have to be just a relationship\u2014it could just as easily be youth, a friendship, or a certain phase of life.\u201d She also doesn\u2019t interpret the song\u2019s dark imagery in a religious sense. \u201cI\u2019m interested in this liminal state between good and evil, between idealization and disillusionment.\u201d What\u2019s particularly important to her is the space in between: \u201cMost of us rarely find ourselves at either extreme.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

For her, the single isn\u2019t a fresh start: \u201cIt feels like a natural continuation of what I\u2019ve always wanted to express\u2014only clearer and more focused.\u201d And the journey continues. \u201cThere will definitely be many more dark songs with a touch of humor,\u201d promises Simone Meier. \u201cAt the same time, the whole thing is still evolving for me\u2014both musically and in terms of content.\u201d <\/p>\n\n
