Intense Modern Gothic with firearm and shovel<\/strong>“Her voice exceeded all expectations.” In Maggie Alley, Loki Lockwood found a singer with whom it fit from the first moment. How her vocals enriched Velatine<\/strong> can be heard on the current album, “I Won’t Be Civilised.” Loki, however, is completely behind Maggie’s decision to devote herself to her own music in the future. Her departure from Velatine<\/strong> flowed into the creation of the video for the impressive “All I Want.” With a firearm, shovel and tarot cards, a steering wheel is handed over in it, and a painting goes up in flames…. <\/p>\n

High priestess, death and flames?<\/strong>Part of the imagery of the video for “All I Want,” made in collaboration with director Mark Bakaitis<\/strong>, is an almost literal burying of the past and a going down in flames of it. “Burying and burning the past to move forward is a reflection of mine. With Maggie leaving Velatine<\/strong>, it was important that the video also represent the side of me that has always been drawn to darkness and death, and that those elements are just part of what I like to explore. For the same reason, the tarot cards are part of history. To me they are symbolic: here the card ‘Death’ enables Velatine<\/strong> to become something new.” For the interpretation of the High Priestess card, Loki sees several possibilities: “Is it Maggie?” The next person to sing for Velatine<\/strong>? “Or both?”<\/p>\n\n
