45 years ago – THE CURE – “Faith”

On April 17, 1981, The Cure released their third album “Faith”. 45 years ago, they were in the studio for the final completions. Did you already know these 5 facts?
★ The Cure were already working at Morgan Studios in September 1980 to record a new album. But without success. In the months that followed, they tried other studios: Red Bus, Trident, The Roundhouse and the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
★ The majority of “Faith” was written in the studio. Tolhurst recalled in 2016 in “Cured: The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys”: “We were constantly on the road, alternating between recording albums and touring.”
★ “Faith” was the first album by The Cure to feature a six-string bass guitar.
★ The instrumental piece “Carnage Visors” is the soundtrack to “Carnage Visors”, a short film by Ric Gallup, the brother of Simon Gallup, which was shown at the beginning of the “Picture Tour” concerts in 1981 instead of an opening act and showed animations of several puppets in various positions and postures.
★ In the UK, “Faith” reached number 14 in the album charts.
