DYSTOPIAN X VISION: Industrial Metal from Luxembourg

Automatic translation. Improvements are constantly being worked on.

With the single “Have a Gray Day,” Dystopian X Vision ushers in a new era. John—the man behind the project—explains that it was a natural progression: “The more I worked on new material, the more I felt that the music had to reflect the emotions and realities that inspired it. There’s so much frustration, pressure, and alienation in the world right now, and harder music just felt like the most honest way to express that. ‘Heartless’ felt like the end of a chapter, but at the same time, the beginning of a new one. “‘Have a Gray Day’ followed right after that. The sound is harder, more aggressive, and more direct, but it’s still unmistakably Dystopian X Vision.”

We couldn’t agree more. How can we picture the song coming together? “It all started more with a feeling than anything else. I was thinking about how many people—myself included—go through the same routines every day, functioning almost on autopilot, while carrying stress, doubts, or exhaustion that no one else really notices. The title came to me pretty early on. ‘Have a Gray Day’ sounded both familiar and strange. We’re used to hearing ‘Have a Great Day,’ but swapping out a single word changes the entire meaning. Once that idea was there, everything else fell into place quite naturally. The music, the atmosphere, and the lyrics all developed around that concept.”

How does John deal with this endless cycle of feeling trapped? Is it even possible to break free from this hamster wheel? “I don’t know if you can ever completely break free from it. For me, music helps. Writing songs is a way to process things and understand emotions that would otherwise just get stuck in my head. I also think it’s important to recognize when you’re stuck in a cycle like that. Once you become aware of it, you can start making small changes instead of just accepting it as normal. Ultimately, life will always consist of routines. The challenge is not to let those routines completely define who you are.”

What’s next for Dystopian X Vision? “Right now, my main focus is on finishing the first Dystopian X Vision EP. I’m also actively looking for a full live lineup, because I’m really eager to bring these songs to the stage. The goal is to start in Luxembourg and then expand step by step into Germany and the wider European scene. Above all, I want to continue evolving naturally and keep building something that feels honest and meaningful, both musically and visually.”
