JANOSCH MOLDAU: Withdrawal?

For more than twenty years, Janosch Moldau has been one of the defining voices of German synth-pop. The musician from southern Germany has consistently carved out his own niche between melancholy, introspection, and electronic soundscapes. His new EP, “Goodbye World,” set for release on August 14, 2026, seems to be the antithesis of the current zeitgeist: quieter, more focused, and more personal. But anyone who assumes the title signifies a final farewell is mistaken. Rather, the release tells the story of a person who, after years of constant movement, is consciously stepping back. “It was definitely a form of rigorous self-protection and a conscious retreat to the essentials,” explains Moldau. “I just wanted to stop constantly sending signals and finally put my music front and center again.”
