MISSIO: Dark Pop Crossover from Texas
Missio’s new album, titled “Love & Heartbreak,” has already been released. One of the singles from the album is the rousing song “Dopamine Kisses.” Synthesizers meet a driving bassline and emotional vocals, creating a fusion of dark pop and gloomy electronica. Crossover dark pop, in other words! The Texas-based duo explains: “In any relationship, there’s something incredibly beautiful about seeing the best in another person. You love that person so much that you can recognize their potential and what they’re capable of. You see past their insecurities and vulnerabilities and hope they become the best and most authentic version of themselves. The challenge, however, is to accept them as they are and not try to change or fix them—that has to come from within themselves. I’ve struggled with a savior complex my whole life, believing I could save other people from themselves. The harsh reality, however, is that I can’t change anyone but myself. Time and again, I’ve learned that this isn’t my responsibility. What I can do, however, is accompany people on their own journey through their struggles as they become the person they want to be—not the person I want them to be.”
