NERO DOCTRINE: Swedish Death from Meck-Pom
Nero Doctrine are often described as a mixture of Paradise Lost and Machine Head. The new EP “Daughter of the Sea” is currently only available digitally, a vinyl release is planned. The first thing that catches the eye is the band name, which is reminiscent of the ancient Roman Empire. Marko nods. “The name goes back to the Roman emperor Nero, who is said to have set the entire city of Rome ablaze in order to enforce his political ideas. So it serves as a perfect analogy for existing power relations. We are not a political band, but topics such as abuse of power and oppression or discrimination against marginalized groups are unfortunately very topical at the moment.” You can find out more in our May/June issue, where we continue our conversation with Marko.
