Five years after the devastating fire, France’s most famous cathedral has been restored to its former glory. With over 12 million visitors a year (before the fire), it is the most frequented tourist site in the whole of France, beating even the Eiffel Tower, which has around 7 million visitors a year.

A spectacular show is planned for the opening of Notre-Dame de Paris on December 7, 2024. After the service, the cathedral’s restored main organ will be played, kicking off an impressive concert of pop, rock, world music and classical music. Lang Lang will play the finale of Camille Saint-Saëns‘ Second Piano Concerto with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Other artists from the world of classical music such as conductor and violinist Gustavo Dudamel, American opera singer Nadine Sierra and French violinist Renaud Capuçon will also impress. The ARD media library also makes it possible to attend the concert from Germany.
